external power supply and usb connection psoc 5LP

Good Morning,

I'm running a project which involves the use of Psoc 5Lp board.

I was wondering if it is possible to connect  the USB port J2 to PC and, at the same time, the Vin pin to external 12V power supply.

The reason why is that I need to control a circuit which is powered by a 12 V power supply and meanwhile I need to communicate with the PC through the USB.

Thank you very much,

Giada

Hello~

I am a newbie to use PSoC creator with CY8KIT-059.

Well, the input section of my project is that when using 4 position switch, I have to select one of clock inputs.

Since I am a beginner about using PSoC creator, then I really need some ideas how to build the input section of my project.

Thus, my questions are

1. How to set up the four position switch

  - use debouncer in cypress section or use switch in off-chip section??

2. How to select the one of clock inputs after setting up the four position switch

Thanks

Hello !

( First of all, sorry for my middle english :/ )

Can somebody help me in my project please ?

I've already made a tactile button (with a coppery touch) which switch on a LED when you put your finger on the touch (with CY8CKIT-059). Now, my goal is to realize the same thing but with matrix button 3x3. So with 9 touch on my PCB instead of 1. But I don't know how to configure the CapSense exactly and especially the C code program.

Thank you for your time !

Error trying to debug CY8CKIT-059 /w MiniProg3 / Creator 4.0

Hello,

I am trying to debug a CY8CKIT-059 (CY8C5888LTI-LP097 device) programmed with a code example from Cypress with a MiniProg3 and PSoC creator 4.0 .

The programmer and device target are visible and I am able to connect to the device (using external or 3.3/5Vtarg power supply). The project builds well and I get an output in the command window that says that the target has been properly programmed.

Then, when it tries to switch to debug mode I get this error:

"error: dbg.M0015: Debugger exited unexpectedly during run. Encountered error (Target disconnected See output window for more information."

and the show details tab:

"There was an unhandled error during the debug session. This has forced the debugger to shutdown. Try again."

Even if I try again it does not work at all.

Then I tried with PSoC Creator 3.3 and I am able to debug. Is somebody able to fix that problem on PSoC Creator 4.0?

Regards,

Xavier

PSOC 5, Cannot succeed a simple "HELLO WORLD" with Character LCD!

Hello everyone,

I am currently using a PSoC 5LP CY8C5888LT*-LP097 (dev kit) and I am trying to do a simple "Hello World" test with the DF-ROBOT lcd shield V2.0 and keep failing.

The symptoms are :

- The LCD seems to receive commands from the mcu but instead of having the expected behavior, it randomly move the cursor, write distorted characters and sometimes does not even display the two lines. My guess is that the commands used in the library are not being read correctly in the LCD even if it is supposed to use HD44780.

There is nothing special in the psoc creator project as I simply added the LCD_CHAR component and set the pins on the correct LCD port.

*The LCD is connected with parallel communication using the P0[7:1] port: DB4 0[1] to DB7 0[4], E 0[5] and RS 0[6].

* The  R/W pin on the lcd is connected to ground so it is always in "write" mode.

* The R/!W on the Mcu isn't connected.

* The display is powered and back light is on.

* I have tried many projects found on this forum without success.

Am I missing something ?

Hi friends.

I have a problem. I need help in this regard.

I made a design like in the picture. But I'm constantly getting a "No input on instance" error.  Also when I compile the program, the compilation process is successful.

Why does this error result?

Thanks

PSOC5LP Boost Convertor in Sleep mode

I have a few questions to use the boost convertor with sleep mode:

1) Table 6-4 in the datasheet (001-84933 Rev. *I) indicates "the chip must wake up periodically for boost active-mode refresh". How to define 'periodically'?  Everytime the chip wakes up it uses power so I would like this to be as long a period as possible. Is this simply defined by how much you are willing to allow the VBOOST output to drop due to it being discharged by IBOOST in standby?

2) AN77900 section 3.6 indicates that when using with sleep mode on wakeup to refresh the boost convertor you need to set the boost mode to active and to restore the system clocks. Assuming that I only want to refresh the boost convertor on most wake-ups do I really need to restore the high-speed system clocks at all? Can I not simply put the boost convertor back into sleep mode and go directly to sleep again? Do I need to wait a time while the boost it is active? And if so what's the best way to reduce power during that process?

3) Instead of putting the convertor into sleep mode, if I disable the boost convertor via an API call does VBOOST get actively switched to VBAT (i.e. shorting out the external inductor)? If I re-enable the boost convertor after my RTC wake-up (assuming VBAT stays >1.8V) can I then switch it back on and bring my CPU voltages back up again without issue?

Would very much appreciate it if anyone knows any detail on this.

Programming issues

Hi everyone,

I have the CY8CKIT-059, but I have had some troubles programming it through both PSOC programmer AND creator.

First thing of cause : I updated the firmware - no problem, but when i tried to program it - it said that it could not acquire SWD mode - so after pressing the reset button a few times - which turned the board LED off for 0.5 sec, then I ended up keeping it pressed until the programmer flashed  few times - and now I can't even see the KitProg in PSOC Programmer - it appears as a KitProg USB device, but not visible in the programming software (PROGRAMMER or CREATOR) ?

What to do? I have a final project hand in by December 19, so pretty stressed that it just stopped working >_<

Kind regards,

Morten Skelmose

Adding schematics components completely alters functionality

Hi.

I had similar problems a number of times already with different projects.

Right now my problem is:

I have a design for a BLDC motor controller, which works without problems. Now I'm trying to add UART component. Actually, I'm not even adding it, I'm re-enabling it, because I've already used it before in this design.

There is no physical connection between this UART and any other component in the design (it's only connected to TX pin, RX pin, and an ISR), but after I add it, something happens and the design becomes unusable. Either state machine of the motor controller is altered, or the PWMs are somehow changed, but it just doesn't work anymore.

What does "help" is disconnecting the TX pin from the component, but then I can't use the UART... Tried to use a different pin for TX - didn't help.

The stupid thing is that I've already used this UART before in the design. Same UART, same pins. Just disabled it at some point and now try to use it again.

As I've already said, it's not the first time I have a similar problem with various designs. But in this design I don't know how to work this around, because the UART is stand alone and is not connected to anything else.

Please help!

PSoC 5LP and AN76496

Hi All,

I am a part of an organization that is trying to implement a Solar Microinverter. While surfing the net for already implemented similar solutions, we came across the wonderfully written Application Note AN76496. That particular AN had everything that we needed to get us started. It even had the PCB files and the firmware too. It was the best we could hope for.

But the problem arose when we needed to do some minor modifications to the firmware to suit our needs. For instance, the proposed design is for 60 Hz while we require a 50 Hz design. In order to make this modification it is essential to know every last bit of the code. Though the algorithm of each block is provided in the AN, I don't find it enough to understand the whole firmware. By whole firmware I mean each and every single line. I contacted the authors of the AN to gather all the available documents related to the firmware. Unfortunately, they don't have any additional documents other than the AN.

I need some help in understanding the firmware in such a depth that I will be able to do any modifications depending on our needs. If any of you could help me with this it would be of a big help.

Thanks in advance.
